I agree with Donn King's review on 3/8/21.
I started buying polka dog fish skins in 2016. I've bought 46 2lb bags over the years. While they are a large portion of our pet supply budget, I think they are worth it because they are a healthy crunchy treat my 2 havapoos love and it takes them a few minutes to eat. I break them down to 3-4", but I prefer the long pieces vs the shorties so I can give them a longer skin if I'm walking out the door and I want them happy and distracted. I sprinkle the crumbs and flakes at the bottom of the bag on their meals.
BUT something changed in the character/quality over the last year that really bums me out. They aren’t as crisp and I can't snap them into short pieces AT ALL. They bend and twist like plastic and do not break apart. It's like trying to break twine. Now it takes a lot of force to cut them into the size I want with strong scissors and a persistent crushing motion.
Whatever the reason for the change, I will keep buying them, but I'm not using them as much because it's a hassle to have to cut/saw/crush them. I had to change my subscription timing because the new texture is reducing the quantity I use substantially.
I was buying from Amazon all these years and when the quality changed I assumed they were at fault for not stocking fresh inventory. I saw many reviews complaining about the texture change. I decided to see if I could buy direct and was delighted until the first order arrived and the skins were still like plastic and hard to snap into smaller pieces.
I hope you are able to go back to the original process and that the product quality isn't just a disappointing casualty of success. I love your products and definitely want to continue supporting you. Take care and thank you for the many other great treats.
