Save the Harbor/Save the Bay Beach Clean up!

Save the Harbor/Save the Bay Beach Clean up!

At Polkadog, supporting our community and protecting the planet isn't an initiative - it’s at the heart of who we are. This Earth Month, we joined forces with Save the Harbor/Save the Bay, our neighbors at the Boston Fish Pier and local nonprofit partner, to show a little love to Mother Earth and the beautiful New England beaches that we’re lucky enough to call home.

We headed to Carson Beach in Southie for a beach clean-up to collect as much trash as we could to help restore part of Boston's shoreline, home to seagulls, sunburns, and Sox hats. From bottle caps to plastic wrappers, we picked up pounds of debris that would’ve otherwise polluted our beautiful Boston harbor. It was a perfect, breezy spring day, filled with teamwork, laughs, and a whole lot of gratitude!

Save the Harbor/Save the Bay is a Boston-based nonprofit dedicated to restoring, protecting, and sharing the city's harbor and public beaches. For over 30 years, they’ve led the charge in transforming Boston Harbor from a polluted waterway into a vibrant, accessible resource for all. Through hands-on environmental education, free community programs, and advocacy for clean water and public access, they connect thousands of people, especially youth and families, to the harbor, the beaches, and everything our local coastline has to offer.

As proud members of 1% for the Planet, Polkadog donates 1% of our annual Cod Skin sales to environmental organizations that are driving meaningful change. Save the Harbor/Save the Bay is part of this global network, connecting businesses like ours with vetted nonprofits to protect the future of our planet.

As a Boston bred brand, the waterfront, the people - our community inspires what we do. We believe our responsibility goes beyond making the best dog treats on the planet - we’re committed to sustainability, to caring for our environment, and to supporting the organizations that are out there every day doing the real work to protect it.

After the cleanup, our team zoomed over to Sullivan’s at Castle Island to celebrate with a classic Boston treat - lobster rolls by the water. It was the perfect way to close out a day full of purpose, reconnecting with nature, and connecting with each other.

We invite you to join us. Whether it’s picking up trash, supporting local conservation efforts, or simply making more mindful decisions in your everyday life - you can make an impact. When we all show up (even in small ways) it adds up to something BIG!

Here’s to clean beaches, strong communities, and a future we can all feel good about. Happy Earth Month from all of us at Polkadog!
